You don't want Florida's estuaries to look like this Texas oil rig port facility |
Join Audubon to Protect Florida´s Coast and Beaches
Audubon and its partners are opposing an amendment authored by Rep. John Peterson (R-PA), which would lift the federal moratoria on oil and natural gas drilling off our nation’s Atlantic and Pacific coasts and the eastern Gulf of Mexico. |
|
Sign the petition to Florida members of the House Appropriations Committee: Reps. Ander Crenshaw, C.W. Bill Young and Dave Weldon, whose districts include important beach communities including Jacksonville Beach, St. Petersburg and the Space and Treasure coasts. All these areas, as well as the rest of Florida’s more than 1,200 miles of coastline are put at risk by offshore oil drilling.
We cannot drill our way to lower gas prices. Instead of the quick fix to drill, we need real, long-term solutions that will end our dependence on oil and gas. Congress should continue to raise the fuel economy of our cars, encourage the use of renewable energy like wind and solar power, and adopt other, existing energy-saving technologies that cut pollution, curb global warming and create good jobs.
Unfortunately, our automated system of sending petition letters to elected officials is not always able to access their email web forms. If you receive a message that the letter was undeliverable, do not worry, as Audubon will ensure that all such letters are tallied and delivered.
