As a constituent who is deeply concerned about the impacts of global warming, I am writing to urge you to sign the "Principles for Global Warming Legislation" recently circulated by Congressmen Henry Waxman, Ed Markey, and Jay Inslee. These principles build on the goals of the Safe Climate Act (H.R. 1590) and establish a detailed framework for Congress as it produces legislation to reduce global warming pollution 80 percent by mid-century.

Global warming is the most urgent challenge of our time and has the potential to negatively reshape our world if we do not take action. The vast majority of scientists now say that we only have a brief window of opportunity to address the problem of global warming--a decade at most--before it becomes too late to reverse the worst effects.
