Help Build Support for Strong Action on Global Warming in Congress

Congressional action to address the critically important issue of global warming is long overdue. Fortunately, our environmental champions in the House are leading the way and laying the building blocks for strong global warming legislation. Congressmen Henry Waxman (D-CA), Ed Markey (D-MA), and Jay Inslee (D-WA) recently introduced the Principles for Global Warming Legislation, which establish a detailed framework for Congress as it produces legislation to reduce global warming pollution 80 percent by mid-century.

The principles recognize four key goals for global warming legislation:

  • Reduce emissions to avoid dangerous global warming;
  • Transition America to a clean energy economy;
  • Recognize and minimize any economic impacts from global warming legislation; and
  • Aid communities and ecosystems vulnerable to harm from global warming.

Please join Audubon in calling upon members of Congress to sign on to the Principles for Global Warming Legislation to guide the crafting of a bill that will effectively and realistically define our nation's response to climate change.
