Unfortunately, this unparalleled 1.5 million acre habitat has never received permanent wilderness protection. There is currently legislation in both chambers of Congress that would permanently protect the coastal plain as wilderness. Write to your members of Congress today and tell them to support the Arctic Wilderness Act to permanently protect the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
